About the Project

We are developing a high-quality ECG learning book for medical students and postgraduate exam aspirants. The book requires clear, original, publication-ready medical illustrations that visually explain ECG concepts, cardiac electrophysiology, waveforms, leads, and clinical correlations.

We are looking for a freelance medical illustrator who can study reference images from textbooks, journals, and teaching materials and create new, original illustrations with similar educational intent, suitable for commercial publication.

Scope of Work

You will be responsible for creating original medical illustrations inspired by provided references, including:

  • ECG waveforms and rhythm strips
  • Cardiac conduction system diagrams
  • Lead placement diagrams (12-lead ECG, limb & chest leads)
  • Vector loops, axis deviation illustrations
  • Pathological ECG patterns (MI, arrhythmias, electrolyte imbalance, etc.)
  • Simplified explanatory diagrams for teaching concepts

Important:
You will not copy, trace, or modify existing copyrighted images. All illustrations must be new, original creations, even when inspired by reference material.

Key Responsibilities

  • Understand ECG concepts from provided references or brief explanations
  • Convert complex ECG concepts into simple, clean, student-friendly visuals
  • Create original illustrations that are stylistically consistent across the book
  • Revise images based on editorial feedback
  • Deliver images in required formats and resolutions

Style & Quality Expectations

  • Clean, academic, and exam-oriented (not decorative)
  • High clarity for black-and-white and color print
  • Suitable for medical textbooks and digital platforms
  • Consistent fonts, line weights, labeling style, and color coding

Deliverables

Each image should be delivered as:

  • Editable source file (AI / PSD / SVG or equivalent)
  • High-resolution PNG or TIFF (minimum 300 DPI)
  • Optional: Vector PDF
  • Clear labeling and legends where applicable

All final illustrations will be considered work-for-hire, with full commercial usage rights transferred to the publisher upon payment.

Payment Structure

  • Freelance, per-image payment
  • Payment rate will be discussed based on:
  • Image complexity
  • Time required
  • Level of detail

Bulk image work will be provided, ensuring steady and predictable assignments.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Background in medical illustration, biomedical visualization, or scientific design
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy and medical diagrams
  • Prior experience with textbooks, exam prep content, or academic publishing preferred
  • Comfortable interpreting medical reference material
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator / Photoshop or equivalent tools

Intellectual Property & Confidentiality

  • All created illustrations must be 100% original
  • No reuse of images from this project in other works
  • Reference images provided are strictly for educational guidance only
  • NDA and IP agreement may be required before starting
