Descon is an established company that designs, develops, manufacturers, and sells a variety of artwork signage and graphic solutions for use in school environments. We specialize in creating high quality theme designs in cafeterias and school interiors which incorporate educational values, slogans, philosophies, school spirit and health/wellness concepts into the school atmosphere.

This growing company is seeking an energetic graphic designer who desires to join a team of designers in working on multiple design efforts and projects. This designer should have a desire to work on large format scale graphics, signage, displays, etc. and must be willing to be creative while still following a standardized development process.

GRAPHIC DESIGNER ROLE
The primary task of this position is to design graphic artwork that creates themed interior spaces for food service, athletics, and educational environments. The Designer may work in both the custom interior graphics area of the business and the standard products area of the business, shown on our website. Additional design work may include company literature, marketing materials, etc. Our artists are unique in that the Designer gets to see the “big picture” and can be involved in all aspects of projects from appointments with customers, raw creative visual designs, modifications of existing designs, setup for manufacturing production, installation of final product, and marketing of prior projects.

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS & PREFERENCES

• Competency

o Associate Degree (Bachelor Degree preferred) in Graphic Design or equivalent experience

o Experienced in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) on Windows platform, MS Office programs

o Comfortable working with large‐format graphics and large files while building art files using layers/styles

o Ability to use artistic styles appropriate for children and family audience

o Strong understanding of typography and readability, use of color

o Competence in graphic design techniques and art production

o Prior experience with creating marketing concepts and/or motion graphics is a plus

o Must be detail oriented with an emphasis on error avoidance

• Character

o High level of professionalism with customer interactions and internal communications.

o Self‐motivated with ability to take direction and work productively with minimal assistance

o Comfortable with following a process and with receiving constructive feedback/critique on design elements

o Ability to work in a team environment within a shared office, preferably with a clean/organized work space

o Flexible demeanor that has a desire to learn our process, improve their abilities, and develop a positive/passionate attitude for products and company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

• Develops an understanding of Descon products and their applications while knowing our process, quality, and operations
• Strive to exceed customer expectations with every project
• Creatively designs innovative graphics that are appropriately themed for schools and that meet customer priorities
• Accurately prepares detailed files for presentation, printing, and production.
• Exhibits critical thinking skills, understands the overall picture about a project and all associated issues
• Exhibits stylistic alignment or capability to emulate and/or advance the current Descon “style”

Position located in Brownsburg IN with most work conducted in person. Salary dependent on experience, position includes medical/vision/life insurance, paid vacation and holidays, IRA match.
