Description:
Basic Function
Under the direction of the Manager, Graphic Design develops and prepares graphic art that visually translates the organization’s communications goals and objectives through the design of aesthetically pleasing materials. Produces internal collateral and assists with the production of external design campaigns within the organization’s graphic standards and management’s direction. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Creates designs that are intuitive, creating and visually appealing for a variety of audiences, with a primary focus on internal communications.
Employs color, type, illustration, photography, animation and various print and payout techniques to design a project that is engaging and educational based on audience and collateral needs.
Resizes and handles production work on existing design work to build out campaign collateral.
Prepares and exports final production files for both print and digital media.
Consults with internal and external clients about print projects and produces materials to the client’s satisfaction.
Organizes print objects and coordinates them through the printing and distribution processes.
Conducts press checks and coordinates projects with METRO’s internal and external print shops.
Handles routine projects and adheres to strictly established deadlines.
Participate in department creative meetings, collaborating with team members to generate innovative ideas and solutions.
Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers.
Applies SMS (Safety Management System) methods and principles in daily routine and supports all aspects of the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP).
Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Pay Range: $56,500 - $74,000
Education Requirement
Associate’s degree in graphic design or a related degree is required.
Years & Experience Required
Minimum two years’ experience producing printed and digital and marketing materials. Project coordination experience is preferred.
Knowledge & Skills Required
General knowledge of industry-standard graphic software, such as Adobe Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. General knowledge in the use of Apple computer and Adobe Create Cloud software. Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel are preferred. Must have the ability to take administrative and artistic direction and be able to work independently and in a team environment. Must have strong communications (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills. Must be able to work under tight deadlines.
