Graphic Designer (In-Person Job/Not Remote)

Mountain States Specialties is a promotional product wholesale distributor in its 45th year in business. We have a large souvenir line ranging from glassware to calendars to keychains to magnets. We also have an in-house screen printing department equipped to print apparel orders ranging from only a few pieces to several thousand pieces. Located on the east side of Boulder, we are looking to add an enthusiast, energetic and creative Graphic Designer to our staff. This position will be located AT OUR OFFICE in Boulder. This position is not a fit for anyone looking to work at home.

This individual will help create artwork for our entire souvenir product line, create a new set of designs for the different seasons of the year for our sales staff to sell for screen printed apparel, create digital product proofs for our customers to review approve, and very occasional website updates.

While design creation is a large part of what this position requires, please note that it is not the exclusive focus. This person must have a working knowledge of the current applications of the following Adobe Creative Cloud programs: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and In Design. This is not a job to train someone how these applications work – you will need to already have an in-depth knowledge of the tools and capabilities of each program. Additionally, this person must be able to work well with customers, as we require every project to be approved by our customers before an order can go into production. Approvals are typically received by email, but occasional phone and in-person communication will take place.

We have a fair number of customers who email us finished artwork they created. Depending on the product the artwork will be going on, you will need to either resize the art appropriately for the respective product, email the customer a mock-up for approval purposes, then send the finished art to our suppliers. On the other hand, if the artwork is for apparel we will be screen printing, you will need to print films, and at times separate the art by individual pantone colors, so we can get the design on screen.

Lastly, please note that we are located in Boulder, Colorado. We have received a fair number of applicants thus far from out of state. We are a small company of 18 employees. We are small enough that we know, and care, about all of our staff. At the same time, we are large enough to have a diverse customer base to keep our front office, screen printing and shipping & receiving staff busy year round.
