Graphic Designer / Production Artist

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Screen Printing Graphic Designer to develop artwork and designs that are optimized for screen printing and textile applications. The ideal candidate will combine strong graphic design sensibilities with an understanding of the screen printing process to deliver high‑quality, production‑ready designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create original artwork and designs specifically for screen printing for apparel.
  • Perform color separations, vectorization, clean‑ups, and file preparation so the designs are suitable for screen printing.
  • Convert raster images into vector formats when needed.
  • Collaborate with the production team to understand technical constraints (mesh counts, ink limitations, registration, etc.) and adjust artwork accordingly.
  • Ensure designs comply with brand guidelines and client specifications.
  • Support and adapt existing artwork for various formats and substrates.
  • Provide multiple design concepts and iterate based on feedback.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring on‑time delivery.
  • Maintain version control, archive files properly, and ensure clean, well‑organized artwork assets.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, inks, and techniques for screen printing.
  • Assist in quality control: check printed output, troubleshoot issues like color mismatch, registration errors, or design flaws.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Proficiency in graphic design software: Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop; familiarity with other tools relevant to screen printing (e.g. vector tools, RIP software).
  • Experience in preparing production‑ready art files for screen printing (color separations, vector paths, proper file formats).
  • Understanding of screen printing technical considerations: mesh, ink types (plastisol, water‑based, etc.), registration, halftones, etc.
  • Good illustration and typography skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail, especially in regards to color, alignment, and consistency.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to liaise with clients and the production team.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in apparel/custom merchandise industry.
  • Understanding of fabric behavior and how prints work on different fabrics
  • Familiarity with proofing, pre‑press and printing workflows.
  • Portfolio of work showing screen-print designs.

Working Conditions

  • Fast‑paced production environment; sometimes tight deadlines.
  • May need to stand when involved with press operations or in a shop setting.
  • Exposure to printing equipment.
  • Collaborative work across design, production, and client services.

Experience & Education

  • Associates degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Typically 1‑3 years of graphic design experience, with some portion of that in print/screen printing environments.

Performance Metrics & Goals

  • Quality of submitted artwork: minimal errors, ready for production.
  • Turnaround time on design requests.
  • Efficiency in revisions/feedback.
  • Consistency in meeting color, registration, and print quality standards.
  • Client satisfaction (both internal/external) with designs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 – 40 per week
