Graphic Designer / UI-UX Designer

New York, United States

About Us

Webflare is a small, fast-moving startup building software for the auction industry. We help auctioneers catalog items, present them beautifully online, and work faster with modern, easy-to-use tools. Our product is called AuctionWriter. You’ll join a tight, hands-on team where designers have a real voice in product and brand decisions.

The Role

We’re looking for a multidisciplinary designer who is as comfortable polishing a landing page as they are mapping user flows in Figma. This role blends product/UI-UX design with marketing and light creative production. You’ll switch contexts frequently and collaborate directly with the founder and a small engineering team.

What You’ll Do

  • Product & UI-UX
  • Design flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI for web apps
  • Create component libraries and design systems in Figma
  • Partner with engineering to ship pixel-accurate, usable interfaces
  • Brand & Marketing
  • Produce ads, social graphics, email and web assets
  • Create simple illustrations and iconography aligned to our brand
  • Contribute to website layout/landing page design
  • Front-End (nice to have)
  • Translate designs into clean HTML/CSS where appropriate
  • Generalist Startup Support
  • Light video editing for tutorials, product launches, and ads
  • Social media content scheduling/asset prep
  • Customer support (phone/email) with empathy and clear communication

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong Figma proficiency (auto-layout, variants, styles, components, prototyping)
  • Portfolio demonstrating web app UI-UX and marketing design
  • Visual design fundamentals: layout, typography, color, hierarchy
  • Ability to scope work, manage your own deadlines, and communicate tradeoffs
  • Comfort jumping between product work and quick marketing tasks

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • HTML/CSS for front-end implementation
  • Basic motion/animation or video editing (Premiere, CapCut, or similar)
  • Customer support experience in a software environment
  • Illustration/icon design
  • Experience in, or familiarity with, the auction industry

Traits That Do Well Here

  • Self-managing, proactive, and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Systems thinker who documents decisions and maintains a tidy Figma file
  • Low-ego collaborator who seeks feedback early and often

Work Setup & Benefits

  • On-site in York, PA with occasional hybrid flexibility
  • 35 hours/week, set daytime schedule with some flexibility
  • $27/hour, paid biweekly
