Northern Nurseries is proud to offer one of the largest selections of Nursery Stock in the region—and we’re still expanding. We’re looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Green Goods Buyer to join our Corporate Purchasing Team in Windsor Locks, CT.

If you have a background in nursery operations, garden centers, or landscaping—and you enjoy combining plant knowledge with data-driven decision-making—this is a fantastic opportunity to advance your career.

What You’ll Do

• Purchase a diverse selection of nursery stock to support multi-site operations.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supplier agreements.
• Travel across the United States to meet growers and inspect plant materials.
• Partner with Distribution Center Managers and Inside Sales teams to ensure accurate pricing, assortment, and availability.
• Resolve supplier credit claims and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Identify new sourcing opportunities that meet quality, value, and pricing standards.
• Attend industry trade shows to stay informed on trends and new products.
• Provide competitive pricing and reliable availability information to internal teams.
• Coordinate and schedule inbound shipments, including freight rate negotiation and carrier selection.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong working knowledge of nursery stock.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong organizational skills and proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a Garden Center, Landscape, or related horticultural field.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field is a plus.

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 8-hour shift
• Travel up to 25%

Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License (Required)
• Ability to relocate to Windsor Locks, CT 06096 before starting work (Preferred)
• 3+ years of horticulture experience (Required)
• 1+ year of contract negotiation experience (Required)
