Ground Person – Berkelhammer Tree Experts (Broomfield, CO)

Pay: $20–$25 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary

Berkelhammer Tree Experts is seeking a motivated and hardworking Ground Person to join our team in Broomfield, Colorado. In this hands-on outdoor role, you’ll support tree care operations, landscaping projects, and land maintenance tasks that help keep our community’s natural spaces healthy and beautiful. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy physical work, value teamwork, and want to grow their skills in arboriculture, horticulture, and landscape maintenance.

You’ll work closely with experienced tree care professionals, assist with equipment operation, and contribute to safe, efficient, high‑quality job sites every day.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with tree trimming, pruning, removals, and planting to support tree health and aesthetics
• Operate or assist with bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and other equipment under proper supervision
• Support rigging operations, including securing loads, managing ropes, and handling tools and materials
• Use GIS tools for mapping, site assessments, and project planning (training provided)
• Perform lawn care tasks such as mowing, edging, fertilizing, and weed control
• Assist with landscape maintenance, including planting, mulching, edging, and debris cleanup
• Set up and maintain safe work zones, including cones, signage, and equipment inspections
• Follow all company safety protocols, PPE requirements, and industry best practices

Experience & Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping, horticulture, tree care, or land maintenance is preferred but not required
• Knowledge of rigging techniques or aerial lift operation is a plus
• Background or interest in horticulture or plant care is highly valued
• Familiarity with GIS applications is helpful but not necessary
• Ability to safely operate landscaping tools and equipment
• Strong teamwork, communication, and a proactive approach to safety and quality

Physical Requirements

This is a physically demanding, outdoor position. Candidates must be able to:

• Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50–75 lbs regularly
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work on uneven terrain for extended periods
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, and light precipitation
• Use hand tools, power tools, and operate equipment safely
• Perform repetitive motions such as raking, dragging brush, lifting logs, and handling ropes
• Wear required PPE (helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots, etc.) throughout the workday

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver’s license preferred
• Reliable transportation to job sites or company yard
• Willingness to learn, follow instructions, and work safely at all times
