Grounds and Landscaping Technician

Job Overview
We’re looking for a dedicated, hands-on Grounds & Landscaping Technician to help keep our camp and retreat center beautiful, safe, and welcoming throughout all four seasons. This role is perfect for someone who loves working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining natural spaces, and enjoys being part of a mission-driven environment that serves campers, guests, and retreat groups year-round. You’ll be a key member of our facilities team, caring for everything from lawns and trails to gardens, outdoor activity areas, and seasonal projects that keep our property running smoothly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities

• Mow, trim, edge, and maintain lawns, fields, and open spaces
• Perform trail upkeep and coordinate volunteer trail upkeep

Grounds Maintenance

• Maintenance flower beds, gardens, shrubs, and trees
• Clear debris, manage leaf removal, and maintain clean outdoor areas
• Perform trail upkeep, erosion control, and natural area restoration

Landscaping & Projects

• Assist with planting, mulching, pruning, and seasonal landscaping projects
• Support long-term beautification and sustainability initiatives
• Help design or install small landscape features (paths, beds, signage, etc.)

Seasonal Work

• Snow removal, salting, and winter safety prep
• Seasonal setup and teardown for camp programs and retreat events
• Support outdoor activity areas (fire pits, waterfront, sports field, etc.)

Facilities Support

• Operate and maintain ground equipment (mowers, trimmers, tractors, etc.)
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on tools and machinery
• Assist the facilities team with general maintenance tasks as needed

Pest and Animal Control

• Assist with treating pests year round (replace traps, spray pesticides, etc.)
• Assist with animal control as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with landscaping techniques (planting, pruning, mulching, soil care)
• Knowledge of native plants, invasive species management, and basic ecology
• Familiarity with small engine maintenance
• Ability to safely operate and maintain equipment such as: Zero-turn mowers, Tractors and attachments, Chainsaws, and String trimmers and blowers

Pay: $31,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
