Grounds & Facilities Maintenance Worker

Do you take pride in keeping public spaces clean, safe, and well maintained? The City of Conover is seeking a Grounds & Facilities Maintenance Worker to help maintain City buildings, parks, cemeteries, and public spaces that residents rely on every day.

What You’ll Do

• Operate equipment such as zero turn mowers, string trimmers, edgers, tractors, and other maintenance equipment used in grounds care and property upkeep.
• Care for landscaped areas including trees, shrubs, and planted beds through pruning, fertilizing, mulching, watering, and weed control.
• Assist with minor maintenance and repair work at City owned buildings and facilities.
• Support seasonal and weather related operations including storm cleanup, snow and ice removal, and general maintenance needs across City properties.

This position reports to the Facilities & Grounds Supervisor within the Public Works Department.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities maintenance, or related manual labor preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

The City of Conover offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary for this position ranges from $34,877 – $52,315. Hiring salary will be based on experience and qualifications. The City provides a complete benefits package including NC State Health Plan; employer-paid dental, vision, and life insurance; flexible spending accounts; Local Government Employees Retirement System (LGERS) contribution; 401k Plan contribution equivalent to 5% of salary; annual vacation starting at 15 days per year; and paid sick leave.
