The Grounds Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the golf course and grounds of Westwood Country Club. This role involves performing various tasks that contribute to the overall quality, aesthetic appeal, safety, and functionality of outdoor spaces. The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and work in various weather conditions as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
o Turf Maintenance: Mow greens, tees, fairways, and rough areas using appropriate equipment. Maintain turf health through aeration, fertilizing, overseeding, and topdressing as directed by supervisors.
o Landscape Maintenance: Prune shrubs and trees, plant flowers, bushes, and trees, maintain flower beds, and trim landscape features to ensure a well-manicured appearance.
o Irrigation System Management: Assist in operating, inspecting, and maintaining irrigation systems, including checking sprinkler heads and ensuring proper water distribution.
o Bunker and Hazard Maintenance: Rake bunkers, repair edges, and ensure sand is distributed evenly. Maintain water hazards and drainage areas by removing debris and ensuring proper flow.
o Seasonal Tasks: Perform seasonal activities such as leaf removal, snow removal from pathways, winterizing plants, and applying protective coverings as needed.
o Debris Removal: Collect and properly dispose of trash, fallen branches, leaves, and any other debris on the grounds and surrounding facilities.
o Equipment Operation: Safely operate and maintain a variety of grounds keeping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, edger's, utility vehicles, and hand tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working order.
o Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any unsafe conditions or practices to supervisors.
o Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of the golf course and landscaped areas to identify pests, diseases, and damage. Report issues and assist in the implementation of pest control and treatment measures as needed.
o Course Setup: Assist with golf course setup, including changing hole locations, moving tee markers, and ensuring proper signage and directions for players.
