Groundskeeper

The ideal candidate will be organized and self-motivated to complete both the required preventative and corrective care for the Nebraska Christian grounds. While the focus will be on grounds first, this person will serve as a part of the Buildings & Grounds Department. This person will likely be assigned non-grounds duties such as custodial or preventative maintenance. The Nebraska Christian campus has eight buildings on 27 acres and may be physically demanding, especially during fast-growing lawn seasons.

Highlight of Primary Responsibilities:

• Stewarding the grounds that we have been provided.
• Facilitate and participate in mowing, trimming, and caretaking of campus.
• Weekly/regular maintenance of mowing and trimming equipment, including hauling equipment to be serviced, and maintaining fresh gas on campus.
• Pickup sticks daily, tree trimming, and hauling branches to dump.
• Working with volunteers, students for service hours and contractors as needed.
• Watering and fertilizing grass, and weed control.
• Beautifying campus through improvement projects.
• Maintain football field, mow and paint lines.
• Cleaning out gutters and cleaning off flat roofs.
• Comfortable with operating pickups with gooseneck/flatbed trailers.
• Directs and performs snow removal activities.
• Maintains a valid Nebraska Certified Pesticide Applicator License
• Works with the supervisor to prioritize and complete tasks.
• Have good working relationships with all, but especially key intra-departmental personnel such as custodial and maintenance staff.
• Keep paved areas clean and free of debris, including rock and gravel.
• Work with many, accountable to only one boss, all for the good and glory of our Creator.
