Rock Creek Cattle Company is looking for a Groundskeeper who takes pride in maintaining beautiful landscapes, enjoys working with equipment, and likes being part of a hardworking, team-oriented environment.

Seasonal Job:

Hours:
approximately 40/weekly hours during the season - weekends and holidays required

Job Summary:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for performing a wide range of activities related to grounds maintenance and construction. This position supports the daily upkeep and presentation of the property through semi-skilled maintenance, operation of equipment, and detailed course and landscape care. Duties are subject to change based on operational needs, seasonal demands, and business requirements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform general landscape maintenance using handheld equipment.
  • Operate walking and riding equipment to mow greens, collars, tees, fairways, approaches, and rough areas.
  • Rake and maintain sand bunkers.
  • Prepare soil beds for sod, seed, and vegetative materials.
  • Assist with fertilizer applications on tees, fairways, and rough areas.
  • Perform skilled duties based on experience, including pruning, plugging, and related tasks.
  • Operate small machinery for edging, trimming, and mowing.
  • Operate utility vehicles and tractors for hauling materials and debris removal.
  • Operate large equipment related to experience, including skid steers, tractors, and loaders.
  • Operate sod cutters, trenchers, and tampers for routine maintenance and construction projects.
  • Assist with golf course setup procedures.
  • Complete detailed maintenance tasks such as weed control and debris cleanup.
  • Maintain awareness of scheduled events, large parties, and reservations that may affect outdoor operations.
  • Operate all equipment safely with awareness of surrounding staff and work areas.
  • Communicate professionally, efficiently, and courteously with members and guests, ensuring a welcoming and personalized experience. Every member and guest should feel valued and welcome during each visit.
  • Maintain service consistency by being prepared for daily operations, events, and guest needs.
  • Address inquiries, concerns, or comments promptly and professionally, providing solutions or directing matters to appropriate staff.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff to foster a cooperative and team-oriented work environment.
  • Promptly report member and guest concerns, injuries, accidents, or other high-risk issues to management.
  • Promptly report employee or personal injuries, accidents, and safety concerns to management.
  • Follow all RCCC policies and procedures, including the Employee Handbook, job descriptions, safety standards, and attendance policies.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
  • If permitted by law, notify management and receive approval prior to taking required or allowed breaks.
  • Accurately record time worked using clock-in/clock-out procedures.
  • Monitor personal hours worked and notify management when approaching overtime thresholds.
  • Maintain flexibility to take on new or different responsibilities as directed by management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma preferred; or
  • Up to one month of related experience or training; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Regular physical movement, including standing, sitting, stooping, crouching, bending, squatting, balancing, reaching, twisting, lifting, climbing, crawling, pulling, pushing, and carrying.
  • Ability to walk and incline-walk for extended periods.
  • Continuous use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Ability to access and navigate all areas of the property and golf course.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds; team lifting is required for items over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to extreme heat, cold, and varying weather conditions.

Work Environment

The employee regularly works outdoors in a fast-paced environment with moderate to high noise levels. Conditions may include exposure to extreme temperatures, wind, sleet, rain, and snow. The position may involve exposure to hazardous machinery, fuels, oils, propane, gasoline, chemicals, and fumes.
