Groundskeeper

Job Summary

The Merrick Library is seeking a reliable and skilled Part-Time Groundskeeper to join our team. This position is responsible for performing a variety of general maintenance, repairs, and landscaping tasks in and around the library building and grounds. The ideal candidate will have basic experience in multiple trades, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to keeping our facility safe, clean, and welcoming for the community. This is a non-competitive Nassau County Civil Service Laborer title.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of heavy building and cleaning work, including power washing, window washing, drain maintenance, and removal of garbage and debris.
• Performs a variety of grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, trimming, and planting.
• Moves library furniture, fixtures, shelving, books, etc.
• Removes snow and ice by shovel or blower from sidewalks, parking, etc.

Preferred Skills

• Ability to use tools effectively and safely.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Physical strength and agility to perform the duties of the position.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
• Valid NYS driver’s license preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
