SUMMARY:
The Groundskeeper and Vegetable Garden Attendant is responsible for maintaining Bluff View Art District grounds and vegetable gardens with attention to detail, care, and consistency. This position supports the health and productivity of the garden by performing tasks related to planting, cultivating, harvesting, and distributing produce, as well as maintaining the cleanliness and presentation of surrounding outdoor areas.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Prepare garden beds, sow seeds, and transplant seedlings
· Weed and maintain vegetable garden beds and landscaped grounds.
· Water, fertilize, and monitor plant health.
· Harvest and clean vegetables and herbs according to schedule and standards.
· Walk or transport harvested goods to on-site entities such as kitchens or cafes.
· Maintain cleanliness and organization of garden tools, supplies, and work areas.
· Monitor and report any issues related to pests, plant diseases, or irrigation systems.
· Assist with composting, mulching, and general upkeep of the garden’s ecosystem.
· Support seasonal planting and rotation schedules.
· Monitor and address as needed all inside and outside planters throughout the District.
· Maintain walkways, patios, and outdoor common areas (sweeping, removing debris, brushing away cobwebs, etc.).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory or management responsibilities are required for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
· Ability to perform physical tasks outdoors in various weather conditions
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
· Self-motivated with good time management and task follow-through.
· Comfortable walking longer distances for deliveries across property.
· Ability to work independently or as part of a small team.
PREFERRED:
· Interest in gardening, horticulture, or landscaping preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
· Excellent verbal communication skills should be professional and accurate.
· Ability to interact with a very diverse and international customer base.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
· Ability to use simple math equations while using recipes.
REASONING ABILITY
· Analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills are required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
· No specific certifications or licenses are required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT

· 1.5 City blocks of building on the property, which includes restaurant, coffee house, meeting venue, art gallery, bed-and-breakfast, bakery, coffee roaster and gardens.
· Multi-story buildings, with stairs.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
· Starting Hourly Rate of Pay: $16.00/hr.
· Medical, Dental, Vision for Full-Time Employee = employer pays a minimum of 50% of employee’s medical premium, indexed annually based on ACA affordability guidelines. (Part-Time Employee is not eligible for health benefits.)
· Discounts on food are offered to the Employee at the Employee’s worksite, for the Employer’s meals or breaks while the Employee is on duty.
· Flexible schedule, as determined by the Manager and in accordance with the entity’s needs.
· Holidays: Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only recognized holidays for the restaurants, although the Inn and Bakery are open; position availability is at the discretion of the Manager and/or Director of Operations.
