Groundsperson/Laborer

Overview:

Join Tree Timber Services as a Groundsperson and become a key part of a professional tree care crew specializing in tree removal, pruning, and storm response. This is a fast-paced, physically demanding role working outdoors alongside experienced arborists and climbers.

You’ll be on the ground making jobs run efficiently and safely—handling ropes, running equipment, managing debris, and supporting climbers during technical removals. This is not basic landscaping—this is real tree work with real production expectations.

Whether you’re experienced or looking to build a career in arboriculture, this is a paid opportunity to learn from a highly skilled crew and grow into roles such as climber, equipment operator, or crew lead.

Responsibilities

  • Support tree removal and pruning operations by assisting climbers and aerial lift operators
  • Run ropes and rigging systems safely to lower limbs and logs using proper techniques (port-a-wrap, friction devices, etc.)
  • Operate chainsaws, chippers, mini skid steers, and other equipment safely and efficiently
  • Drag, stack, and process brush and wood to maintain a clean and productive job site
  • Assist with felling small to medium-sized trees under supervision
  • Manage job site safety by maintaining awareness of drop zones, communication signals, and crew positioning
  • Perform daily equipment checks and basic maintenance (fueling, greasing, cleaning)
  • Work in all weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and snow
  • Follow all company safety standards and arborist best practices (no shortcuts)

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in tree work, logging, landscaping, or heavy labor preferred (but not required)
  • Ability to safely operate or willingness to learn chainsaws and wood-processing equipment
  • Understanding of or interest in rigging and tree removal techniques
  • Strong work ethic and ability to perform physically demanding work daily
  • Ability to take direction and work efficiently as part of a crew
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL is a major plus)
  • Interest in pursuing arboriculture certifications (ISA, etc.) is highly encouraged

What We’re Looking For

  • Someone who shows up ready to work hard—every day
  • Safety-first mindset with attention to detail
  • Team player who communicates well and supports the crew
  • Motivated individual looking to grow into higher-paying roles (climber, operator, crew lead)

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work with a professional arborist-led company, not a landscaping crew
  • Hands-on training in real tree removal, rigging, and equipment
  • Clear path for advancement into skilled positions
  • Be part of a crew that takes pride in doing things the right way

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.58 - $27.19 per hour
