Gynecologist

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine examinations and screenings of women’s reproductive and sexual health (e.g., pelvic exams, Pap smears, breast exams).
• Diagnose and treat a broad range of gynaecologic conditions such as infections (STIs), endometriosis, infertility, hormone disorders, menstrual problems.
• Provide prenatal, antenatal, postnatal care (if involved in obstetrics): monitor pregnancies, deliver babies, manage labour & delivery complications.
• Perform surgical and minimally invasive procedures: e.g., hysterectomies, laparoscopy, sterilisation, tubal ligation, D&C, myomectomy.
• Provide counselling / education: family planning (contraception / sterilisation), menopause management, sexual health, preventive care.
• Maintain accurate patient medical records, review lab/imaging results, revise treatment plans as needed.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals (nurses, midwives, specialists) and refer patients when needed.
• Stay updated with latest guidelines, research, and best practices in gynaecology & obstetrics.
• Possibly supervise trainees or junior staff (in hospital/academic setting) and participate in departmental activities.
