Hammer Coffee Barista

We currently have part-time Barista openings at multiple locations:

• Our LTD Reserve flagship location at 3173 S Grand, Spokane (requires MAST certification)
• Downtown Spokane location at 122 N Wall, Spokane

Hours needed are 15-25 hours/week; Shifts may be early morning, mid and late afternoons, and evenings. Full weekend availability is a must.

Job Summary

The Barista position at Thomas Hammer Coffee Roasters is a vital role which places significant focus on making the customer happy with a beverage that is superior in taste, quality and value.

Essential Barista Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Passionately share Thomas Hammer offerings and bring a positive attitude and high energy to daily interactions
• Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, non-coffee and blended beverages to company standard
• Prepping and plating food
• Describing menu items and sharing product knowledge with customers to encourage sales
• Customer Service
• Cashiering
• Quality Control (testing coffee and other products to ensure standards are met)
• Packaging baked goods for retail sale
• Cleaning
• Stocking

Other duties as assigned

Barista Job Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Food and Beverage Worker’s Permit for WA State employees (within 7 days of hire)
• MAST certification required
• Nonsmoker (WA State only)
• Display positive, high energy
• Coffee experience highly desired
• 1 year of Customer Service
• Clear thinking
• Ability to multi-task
• Willingness to do the right thing

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Depending on the location and shift, Baristas may work inside the lobby and/or drive thru. The noise level in the work environment can range from moderate to loud. Temperature can fluctuate from warm to cool.
• Some minor travel may be required to other regional locations for training, to assist with staffing needs, or to accommodate group meetings.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear to exchange information.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb and balance; bend at the waist, stoop, kneel, and crouch; taste and smell; and perform work which involves occasionally lifting, pushing and or pulling of objects which may approximate 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
