Handbag & Accessories Designer (Intern)

Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and innovative Handbag & Accessories Designer to join our dynamic fashion design team. Duties

• Develop original handbag and accessory concepts through sketches, illustrations, and digital renderings using Adobe Creative Suite tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
• Create detailed technical drawings and CAD (Computer-Aided Design) models to communicate design specifications clearly to manufacturing teams.
• Oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial concept through prototyping, testing, and final production, ensuring designs meet quality standards and market demands.
• Collaborate with merchandising teams to analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitive products to inform design direction.
• Coordinate with sample makers and manufacturers to ensure accurate garment construction techniques are applied in accessory production.
• Apply color theory principles to develop appealing color palettes that enhance product aesthetics.
• Conduct fittings, evaluate prototypes, and make necessary adjustments to optimize functionality, durability, and style.
• Stay informed about current fashion trends, retail strategies, and industry innovations to keep designs fresh and relevant.
• Assist in styling accessories for promotional campaigns or runway presentations to showcase design versatility.

Requirements

• Proven experience in fashion design with a focus on handbags and accessories; portfolio demonstrating creative concepts and technical skills.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), CAD software, and product lifecycle management tools.
• Strong understanding of garment construction techniques applicable to accessories as well as sewing skills including operation of sewing machines.
• Knowledge of fashion retail dynamics, merchandising strategies, and consumer preferences.
• Skilled in illustration, graphic design, color theory, and visual storytelling to communicate ideas effectively.
• Familiarity with sewing techniques, material selection, and manufacturing processes specific to handbag production.
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail throughout all phases of product development.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experience or interest in theater or visual arts is a plus for creative inspiration.
