Bear Landscaping & Design is seeking an experienced and motivated Hardscape Crew Leader to lead a team in the installation of patios, retaining walls, walkways, and other outdoor living projects. The Crew Leader will be responsible for overseeing daily job site operations, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
This position requires strong leadership, hardscape installation experience, and the ability to manage crew members while maintaining production schedules and job quality.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership
- Lead and supervise a hardscape crew on residential and commercial installation projects
- Coordinate daily tasks and delegate responsibilities to crew members
- Ensure projects stay on schedule and meet company quality standards
Hardscape Installation
- Install paver patios, walkways, and driveways
- Construct retaining walls (block, natural stone, etc.)
- Perform site preparation including excavation, grading, and base installation
- Install drainage systems when required
- Cut and fit pavers, stone, and wall materials as needed
Equipment & Safety
- Operate equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, plate compactors, and saws
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of company tools and equipment
- Maintain a clean and organized job site
- Enforce safety procedures and company policies
Quality Control
- Ensure proper base preparation, compaction, and installation techniques
- Review project plans and ensure installations meet design specifications
- Maintain attention to detail and ensure finished projects meet Bear Landscaping standards
Communication
- Communicate with management regarding job progress, materials, and any issues
- Coordinate material deliveries and job site logistics
- Represent the company professionally with clients when needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in hardscape installation
- 1+ years of leadership or crew supervision experience preferred
- Experience installing paver patios, retaining walls, and landscape features
- Ability to read landscape or construction plans preferred
- Experience operating skid steers or mini excavators
- Strong work ethic and leadership skills
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license (chauffeur or CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to company yard
Pay: $25.00 - $33.00 per hour
