Seeking a highly motivated, energetic Hardware Sales Associate with excellent customer service skills.
Note:Physical requirements include lifting (up to 100 lbs), standing, walking, bending and carrying products. Must have reliable transportation.
Responsible for the receiving, storage, stocking, pricing, merchandising, and sales of the Hardware Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
- Greet and engage customers promptly; prioritize Customer Service above administrative tasks.
- Guide customers to product
- Suggest related and/or additional products needed to complete their project
- Answer phone calls forwarded to the Hardware Department
- Inform supervisors about requested items from customers
- Support loss prevention efforts through customer engagement and proper procedures
Maintain Department
- Replace stock as received/sold
- Pull stock forward on shelves to maintain a neat and orderly look
- Place back stock in designated location; keep area clean and organized
- Request and place any needed signage with assigned area per company guidelines
Essential Job Functions/Skills:
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Hardware associates must qualify in knowledge of the hardware duties within the store including key making, cutting chain/rope/tubing/plexiglass and paint/stain mixing. Hardware associates must qualify in the basic cashier functions.
- Must have excellent communication skills with the customer and work associates.
- Must be willing and able to learn more product information and be able to locate product within the store.
- Must be willing to answer the phone as instructed and help the customer on the phone as needed.
- Must show initiative and willingness to ensure store cleanliness, stock product as needed, and perform other duties, projects or tasks when asked or needed.
- Must be a team player
- Demonstrated knowledge of sales approaches, methods, and techniques.
- Ability to perform arithmetic calculations.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift up to 100lbs. without assistance.
- Must be capable of standing, bending, kneeling and repetitive lifting for the duration of your shift.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. over their head
- Must be able to see, hear and have the sense of touch
Continuing Education
- Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment and machinery used in position
- Attend trainings and self-learning opportunities to keep up-to-date on products in assigned area
Education & Experience:A HS diploma or GED is preferred. Hardware Associate must be able to demonstrate hardware product and building supply knowledge or have 1 to 2 years of prior retail hardware experience.
Pay: $14.00 - $20.00 per hour
