- Equipment & Compliance: Track tank wash cycles, vapor recovery testing, and ensure all drivers have the proper endorsements and PPE for their specific loads.
- Emergency Response Contact: Act as a calm, clear-headed point of contact for drivers in the event of spills, leaks, or gate issues.
- Profitability: Negotiate with brokers and shippers to maintain high-revenue lanes while minimizing empty miles between washouts.
Skills
- Hazmat Expertise: An understanding of FMCSA Hazmat regulations and tanker-specific safety protocols.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in bulk liquid (fuel/chemical) dispatching.
- The "Alertness" Factor: You must have impeccable attention to detail. In our industry, there is zero room for error regarding product compatibility or weight limits.
- Ability to maintain a professional, authoritative relationship with drivers and terminal operators.
- Experience with GPS tracking, and transportation planning tools to enhance dispatch efficiency.
- Familiarity with freight logistics.
- Excellent analysis skills for route optimization and data entry accuracy.
- Effective communication skills complemented by professional phone etiquette for dispatching and customer interactions.
