HDD Directional Driller

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced HDD Directional Driller to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating horizontal directional drilling equipment to install underground utilities safely and efficiently according to project specifications and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate HDD rigs and support equipment to drill pilot holes and install product lines (e.g., fiber, gas, water, or electrical conduits).
• Read and interpret bore plans, blueprints, and job specifications.
• Monitor drilling parameters and adjust tools or mud systems to maintain bore integrity.
• Coordinate with locators, equipment operators, and ground crews to ensure safe operations.
• Conduct pre- and post-trip equipment inspections, maintenance, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies and local/state/federal regulations.
• Troubleshoot equipment and drilling issues in the field.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of HDD drilling experience with Vermeer 24x40 and above.
• Experience with rock drilling
• Knowledge of underground utility construction and bore planning software.
• Valid CDL (or willingness to obtain) strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of drilling fluids and mud systems.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and travel to job sites as needed.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 45 – 60 per week
