    Job Summary:
    The Dance Coach is designs and leads the fall dance team program, choreographing routines for football games, pep rallies, and community events. Reporting to the Athletic Director, the coach plans and conducts regular practices, manages tryouts and team selection, and collaborates with band, athletic, and administrative staff. In this role, the coach fosters a positive, inclusive culture that develops students' technical skills, leadership qualities, and academic balance, while ensuring compliance with MSHSL regulations and embodying district 196's core values of perseverance, respect, integrity, excellence, and leadership.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive dance program that aligns with the school's mission and goals
    • Provide skill development and training sessions for dance team members
    • Create and choreograph dance routines for performances, competitions, and events
    • Prepare the team for competitions and oversee their participation in various dance events
    • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, promoting sportsmanship and teamwork among the dancers
    • Monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of the team during practices, performances, and trips
    • Collaborate with the Athletics Department to manage administrative tasks, including budgeting, scheduling, and communications
    • Maintain regular communication with dancers, parents, and school administrators regarding team activities and updates
    • Attend team meetings, coaching workshops, and professional development opportunities as required

    Qualifications:

    • Previous experience coaching or participating in dance programs, preferably at the high school level
    • Strong dance background and expertise in various dance styles, including jazz, hip-hop, and contemporary
    • Knowledge of dance techniques, choreography principles, and performance skills
    • Ability to motivate and inspire students, fostering a positive and supportive team environment
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with dancers, parents, and school staff
    • Organizational skills to manage practice schedules, competitions, and other team activities
    • Current CPR and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain)
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to competitions and events
