Head of Advancement

Position Summary

Sewickley Public Library is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Advancement to lead its fundraising strategy and donor engagement initiatives. This role is responsible for overseeing all advancement and fundraising activities, building meaningful relationships with donors and community stakeholders, and securing funding to sustain and grow the Library’s mission.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy including annual, capital, and endowment campaigns
• Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and government entities
• Manage all phases of giving: major gifts, planned giving, and annual appeals
• Oversee donor database and utilize reporting to guide strategy and stewardship efforts
• Create and direct an evolving and compelling case for support
• Research, track, and write compelling grant proposals
• Manage internal and external reports and deadlines
• Oversee the full life cycle of grant maintenance ensuring compliance and positive relationships
• Plan and oversee fundraising events and donor communications
• Collaborate with the Communications Librarian to align messaging across platforms
• Provide regular updates to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and development-related committees
• Support the Friends of the Library with strategic planning for fundraising events

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree or CFRE preferred
• 5+ years of professional fundraising experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting
• Proven success with securing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Experience with Raiser’s Edge and data-informed strategy
• Knowledge of the Pittsburgh-area philanthropic community
• Ability to think strategically and manage multiple initiatives
• Experience with capital campaigns
• Passion for the mission of public libraries and community access

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
