Head of Department (HOD) – Chemistry

Job Description

· Lead and coordinate all academic activities of the Chemistry department.

· Prepare and implement annual academic plans, lesson plans, and assessment schedules.

· Ensure timely completion of syllabus as per board curriculum and academic calendar.

· Mentor and guide Chemistry teachers to improve pedagogy and content delivery.

· Conduct department meetings and review teaching–learning processes.

· Ensure alignment with board guidelines, safety norms, and school policies.

· Teach Chemistry to high school and senior secondary classes, including Grade XII.

· Focus on numerical problem-solving, conceptual clarity, and exam-oriented preparation.

· Plan, organize, and supervise Chemistry laboratory activities as per curriculum requirements.

· Maintain lab inventory, records, logbooks, and stock registers.

· Plan and conduct internal and board practical examinations efficiently.

· Prepare experiment lists, practical manuals, question sets, and evaluation rubrics.

· Train students in experimental procedures, viva-voce, and practical record maintenance.

· Identify learning gaps through assessment analysis.

· Plan and conduct remedial classes for slow learners and students needing additional support.

Qualifications & Experience

· Master’s degree in Chemistry

· B.Ed. or equivalent teaching qualification (mandatory).

· Minimum 5 years of experience teaching Grade XII Chemistry in CBSE.

· Experience as HOD / Senior Chemistry Teacher preferred.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹45,000.00 - ₹55,000.00 per month
