We are seeking an inspiring Head of English to lead a thriving department in a prestigious independent school in Canberra.

You'll guide a passionate group of educators in delivering outstanding teaching and learning across multiple pathways including the NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC), the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, and the Middle Years Programme (MYP).

About the Role
  • Provide visionary leadership for the English Department of around 20 staff members, with the support of two assistant heads of department, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence and collaboration.
  • Support staff in curriculum design, pedagogy and assessment across HSC and IB frameworks.
  • Contribute to whole-school literacy initiatives and the ongoing development of English programs from Years 7-12.
  • Continue to teach in your area of expertise, modelling exceptional classroom practice with a 0.5 FTE release for leadership duties.

  • Appropriate qualifications.
  • Obtain or willingness to obtain a valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card.
