Head of International Brokerage (US Markets)

Reporting to: Head of Securities


Role overview

The Head of International Brokerage will build and lead the bank’s international brokerage offering for UHNW clients and family offices, with a primary focus on US equities and GCC markets.

This is a role on the technical business side: the successful candidate will know how to structure and enhance cross‑border brokerage, negotiate with US and global clearing/custody and white‑label providers, and position the platform as a leading solution for sophisticated wealth

clients in the region. also managing/enhancing the sales team.



Key responsibilities

  • Define and execute the international brokerage strategy for UHNW and family offices, aligned with the overall Securities business and the Head of Securities’ vision.
  • Act as the subject‑matter expert on international brokerage within the Securities division, advising on market structure, partner selection and client proposition.
  • Design and continuously enhance the US and GCC brokerage offering for UHNW/family offices (markets covered, instruments, pricing, leverage/margin, shorting where applicable, service tiers).
  • Lead the development and packaging of white‑label / introducing‑broker / B2B/B2B2C solutions for external wealth managers, private banks and family‑office platforms.
  • Own key external relationships related to international brokerage, including:
  • US and international clearing and custody providers.
  • Global and regional executing brokers and liquidity providers.
  • Relevant white‑label/platform partners.
  • Drive and lead commercial negotiations with these partners to optimise economics (fees, rebates, revenue‑share), service levels, flexibility and scalability.
  • Shape the operating model for UHNW/family‑office international brokerage, including account structures, cross‑border flows, FX.
  • Work closely with internal technology, operations, risk, legal and compliance teams to ensure the chosen structure is robust, scalable and fully compliant, without needing to be a technologist.
  • Oversee execution quality and client experience for international brokerage clients (spreads, routing, fill quality, reject rates, service response times and onboarding).
  • Support relationship managers, private bankers and family‑office coverage teams in pitching and explaining the international brokerage and white‑label proposition.
  • Build and manage a small team of product and commercial specialists focused on international brokerage within the Securities division.


Candidate profile


Experience

  • 12–20 years of experience in international brokerage / cross‑border trading / securities business, ideally within a bank, broker or electronic brokerage serving UHNW and family‑office clients.
  • Deep expertise in US equities and solid familiarity with GCC equity markets and regional client expectations.
  • Proven track record of improving or re‑shaping an international brokerage offering (e.g. expanding US access, enhancing pricing/economics, adding markets/products, or building white‑label / IB channels).
  • Significant experience negotiating with US and international clearing, custody and platform providers, understanding how structures and terms impact UHNW/family‑office clients and the Securities business.
  • Prior role as a business, product or commercial lead within a Securities or Markets division, rather than pure technology or pure RM/sales.


Technical and product skills (business‑side)

  • Deep understanding of market structure and brokerage mechanics in US and GCC markets: order types, venues, routing, short selling, margin, corporate actions and settlement cycles.
  • Strong knowledge of clearing and custody models (omnibus vs fully disclosed, introducing vs direct clearing) and their implications for risk, cost, tax and client experience.
  • Familiarity with white‑label / B2B/B2B2C brokerage structures used by brokers and wealth platforms, including economics, branding, governance and operational responsibilities.
  • Ability to translate UHNW/family‑office needs into concrete product requirements and operating models, and to challenge external and internal providers to deliver.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks in the US and GCC, and cross‑border rules affecting UHNW and family‑office distribution.


Leadership and commercial skills

  • Strong negotiation and commercial skills, with clear evidence of securing favourable terms with global brokers, clearers, custodians and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow business volumes and revenues in international brokerage, while maintaining appropriate risk and control standards.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, able to work closely with the Head of Securities and peers across Markets, Wealth Management, Technology, Risk and Compliance.



Education and qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in finance, economics, business or a related discipline preferred.
  • Relevant professional qualifications (e.g. CFA, and/or local capital‑markets/wealth licences) are advantageous.

  • Growth in international brokerage assets, volumes and revenues from UHNW and family‑office clients (direct and via partners).
  • Improved economics and service levels from clearing, custody and white‑label partners.
  • Successful launch and scale‑up of white‑label / IB / B2B/B2B2C propositions.
  • UHNW/family‑office client satisfaction and retention metrics.
  • Strong risk and compliance outcomes within the Securities division’s international brokerage activity.
