Head of Legal

Job responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all legal aspects of the company's operations, including maritime, commercial, and corporate law matters
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts, including bunker supply agreements, framework trade contracts, and related documents
- Advise management on legal and regulatory issues affecting the business, including sanctions, compliance, and international trade
- Manage and coordinate external counsel in various jurisdictions, ensuring cost effective and high quality legal support
- Oversee dispute resolution processes, including claims, arbitration, and litigation across multiple jurisdictions
- Develop and maintain internal compliance frameworks and policies (AML, KYC, sanctions, data protection, etc.)
- Support corporate governance, board matters, and group structure management
- Identify potential legal risks and recommend proactive solutions to minimize exposure
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on key legal and compliance topics
Candidate profile
- Holds a university degree in Law (Master's or equivalent preferred)
- Has 8+ years of experience in legal practice, preferably in shipping, energy, or commodities trading
- Has solid knowledge of English law and international trade regulations
- Is fluent in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and strong leadership skills
- Has a hands on, business oriented approach to problem solving
- Is precise, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities under time pressure
- Communicates clearly, works collaboratively, and builds trust across departments
- Has a positive, proactive, and solution driven attitude
