Job Description: Central Maintenance Head

Role Objective
The Central Maintenance Head will be responsible for leading, planning, and implementing the overall maintenance strategy across the Chennai facility. The role will focus on ensuring high uptime and reliability of plant machinery, utilities, and equipment through predictive and preventive maintenance, energy cost optimization, compliance with statutory standards, and strong stakeholder management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance & Reliability
-
Lead
analysis of downtime and breakdowns
to identify root causes and implement corrective actions, ensuring continuous improvement.

Drive
uptime improvement
across all plant machinery, line equipment, and utilities in line with industry norms.

Monitor and achieve
maintenance KPIs
including:
-
MTTR (Mean Time to Repair)
-
MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures)
-
Machine Availability %
-
Implement predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability.
2. Planning & Audit
-
Conduct
periodic maintenance audits
across plants to assess planning, scheduling, and compliance to maintenance protocols.

Ensure adherence to
group-level standards
and best practices in plant engineering and central maintenance.

Establish robust
maintenance SOPs, manuals, and reliability standards
for all critical equipment.
3. Cost & Energy Optimization
-
Ensure
energy cost optimization
as per group benchmarks, focusing on reducing specific energy consumption per unit of output.

Develop and implement cost control measures to reduce overall
maintenance expenditure
without compromising quality.

Promote
domestic spare part development
to reduce import dependency and optimize cost, ensuring quality standards are maintained.
4. Statutory & Compliance

Ensure strict adherence to all statutory, regulatory, and group requirements, including:

ISO standards
(ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001)

OHSAS / ISO 45001
for safety compliance
-
State & Central government norms (Electrical Inspectorate, Pollution Control Board, Factory Act, etc.)

Prepare and maintain compliance reports, certifications, and audit documentation.
5. Leadership & Stakeholder Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a skilled maintenance team to ensure competency in advanced maintenance practices.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, EHS, Projects, Procurement) for seamless operations.

Build and maintain strong relationships with
internal stakeholders, OEMs, vendors, contractors, and government authorities
.

Drive a culture of
safety, quality, and continuous improvement
across maintenance teams.
