Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Nursing (HOD Nursing) to lead and manage our nursing department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintaining nursing standards, supervising nursing staff, and supporting hospital leadership in strategic planning and clinical operations. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and the ability to foster a positive and professional working environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Management
- Oversee the overall functioning of the nursing department.
- Develop and implement nursing policies, procedures, and standards.
- Lead, mentor, and support nursing supervisors and staff.
- Ensure adequate staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning.
2. Patient Care & Quality Assurance
- Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Monitor clinical practices and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Conduct regular audits, patient rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Address patient concerns and ensure prompt resolution of issues.
3. Training & Development
- Identify training needs and organize continuous professional development programs.
- Facilitate orientation programs for new nursing staff.
- Promote a culture of learning, accountability, and growth within the department.
4. Administrative & Operational Duties
- Collaborate with hospital leadership in strategic planning and budgeting.
- Maintain accurate reports, records, and departmental documentation.
- Ensure effective coordination between nursing and other clinical departments.
- Manage procurement and inventory control of nursing supplies and equipment.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure adherence to hospital policies, standards, and statutory healthcare regulations.
- Monitor and report incidents, near-misses, and safety concerns promptly.
Qualification:
Master's in Healthcare Management from a recognized institution.
Experience:
Minimum 7–10 years of professional nursing experience, including 3–5 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth understanding of nursing protocols, patient care standards, and hospital operations.
- Ability to multitask and manage high-pressure situations.
- Proficiency in MS Office and hospital management systems.
