Job Purpose:
The Head of Operations – Waste Management will oversee and manage all operational aspects of the waste management business, ensuring efficiency, compliance with environmental regulations, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality service delivery. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, process optimization, and stakeholder management to drive business growth and sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

Oversee daily operations across collection, transportation, recycling, and disposal of waste.

Ensure operational efficiency, adherence to schedules, and cost management.

Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all operational activities.

Strategic Planning:

Collaborate with senior management to develop short- and long-term operational strategies.

Identify opportunities for business growth, process optimization, and technology adoption.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure compliance with local, regional, and national environmental regulations and safety standards.

Implement robust health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies across all operations.

Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to minimize operational hazards.

Team Leadership:

Lead, mentor, and develop operational teams including supervisors, drivers, and waste handlers.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Set clear goals, monitor performance, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Financial Management:

Prepare and manage operational budgets and forecasts.

Control operational expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Report on operational performance, financial metrics, and efficiency improvements.

Stakeholder Management:

Build and maintain relationships with government authorities, regulatory bodies, clients, and vendors.

Ensure excellent customer service and timely resolution of client issues.

Represent the company in industry forums, conferences, and networking events.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Minimum 10 years of experience in waste management or environmental services, with at least 5 years in a senior operations leadership role.

Strong knowledge of waste management processes, recycling, and environmental regulations.

Proven experience in operational planning, process optimization, and team leadership.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
