Head of Private Label

  • Job Title: Head of Private Label - Strategic Sourcing & Category Leadership

Role Purpose


To develop and scale a profitable, differentiated private label portfolio by driving strategic sourcing, product innovation, and lifecycle management. The role will directly impact margin growth, revenue contribution, and competitive positioning of the organization’s private brand offerings.


Key Responsibilities


  • Develop and execute a 3-year private label strategy and roadmap
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard local and international suppliers
  • Lead commercial negotiations to optimize cost structures and margins
  • Oversee product design, development, and packaging innovation
  • Ensure product certification, compliance, and quality standards
  • Manage product testing, QA coordination, and defect reduction initiatives
  • Drive new product development (5–10 SKUs annually)
  • Monitor product lifecycle performance and profitability
  • Conduct competitor benchmarking and differentiation strategy development
  • Own pricing strategy and margin management
  • Track and improve sell-through rates and inventory turnover
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain for inventory planning and forecasting
  • Coordinate with Marketing for product launches and go-to-market strategies
  • Conduct quarterly product performance reviews and portfolio optimization
  • Reduce defect rates, warranty claims, and return rates
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, or Supply Chain
  • 10–12 years of experience in Product Management / Category Management / Private Label Development
  • Proven track record of launching and scaling private label products
  • Strong exposure to local and international sourcing
  • Experience in retail, FMCG, consumer durables, or multi-category environments
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic portfolio planning and lifecycle management
