Role Overview

The Head of Product & Engineering is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of Samasu Digital’s software products. This role combines product ownership, engineering leadership, and launch execution, working closely with the Founder to translate strategic vision into shipped, live software.

The role is hands-on and delivery-focused, with responsibility for overseeing development teams, managing product roadmaps, and ensuring successful launches and ongoing product evolution.

Key Responsibilities

Product Leadership & Delivery

• Own the full product lifecycle from planning and development through launch and ongoing iteration
• Translate strategic objectives into clear product roadmaps, priorities, and deliverables
• Ensure products are stable, scalable, and ready for market release
• Drive continuous improvement based on user feedback and performance data

Engineering Leadership

• Lead and manage internal development teams and external contractors
• Oversee technical architecture, system design, and development standards
• Review code quality and ensure best practices across all platforms
• Provide technical guidance and challenge implementation decisions where needed

Launch & Release Management

• Manage software launches, updates, and version releases
• Oversee app store submissions, deployments, and production releases
• Ensure smooth transition from development to live environments
• Coordinate bug fixes, performance optimisation, and feature enhancements

Planning & Execution

• Define realistic development timelines and milestones
• Balance speed, quality, and scalability in product delivery
• Identify risks and dependencies early and address delivery blockers
• Maintain clear documentation and delivery plans

Collaboration & Communication

• Act as the primary point of contact for product and engineering matters
• Work closely with the Founder on prioritisation and decision-making
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners as required
• Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and delivery timelines

Required Experience & Skills Experience

• 6–10 years’ experience in software development and product delivery
• Proven track record of delivering live digital products
• Experience working in startup, scale-up, or growth-stage environments
• Prior responsibility for managing multiple products or platforms

Technical Background

• Strong understanding of:
• Web and mobile application development
• Backend systems and APIs
• Cloud infrastructure and deployment processes
• Comfortable reviewing code and assessing technical quality
• Experience with AI-enabled or data-driven systems is an advantage
• Exposure to regulated or operationally complex software environments is a plus
