About DocuPet

As the official pet registration provider for more than 250 jurisdictions, DocuPet is the largest and fastest growing pet registration platform in North America.

Our proprietary platform consolidates all pet information into a single place and provides the services for pet owners, community members and animal shelters to ensure pets can be reunited quickly if they become lost.

Beyond our platform, DocuPet offers specialized pet tags, an AI-powered pet tracker, lost pet alert system, and will soon be launching a first-of-its-kind pet parenting mobile app - all aimed to ensure every pet in North America is registered and that each has a safe and happy home.

Our work is very important. More than 6 million pets enter animal shelters every year. Just 10% of those animals are returned to their owners. Effective registration, pet identification, reunification tools, and animal shelter resources, all provided by DocuPet, is the solution that will measurably reduce shelter intakes while providing significant new funding for animal welfare organizations.

A new National Pet Record Search Tool, launched in 2025, is available for free to all shelters joining our National Animal Shelter Network. DocuPet has the support of the animal welfare industry, and with astute strategic leadership will become the de facto National Pet Registry program serving tens of millions of pet owners by 2027.

Your Mission: Use Data to Improve the Lives of Pets and the People Who Love Them

We believe data, when used thoughtfully, can help create safer, healthier, and more connected lives for pets and their families. We’re building products that support pet parents across the full pet lifecycle, and we’re looking for a Head of Product Insights & Analytics to help guide product decisions with clarity, rigor, and empathy.

This role exists to establish and scale product-focused analytics and insights — a lean, high-impact capability that turns product signals into understanding, reduces risk in product decision-making, optimizes product investment, and prepares the Product organization for a future powered by AI, personalization, and intelligent experiences.

You will build the product intelligence layer that enables the Product organization to scale responsibly and maximize impact for pets, pet parents, and the partners who serve them.

What You’ll Build and Own:

Product Intelligence and Decision Leadership

  • Create and lead a Product Analytics & Insights function that sets standards for measurement, data quality, and analytical rigor.
  • Build the right team to execute on all aspects of analytics and insights, both qualitative and quantitative.
  • Position product analytics as a strategic thought partner that informs product discovery, prioritization, and execution, not just downstream reporting.
  • Enable faster, more confident product decisions by providing trusted insights at critical points across the product lifecycle.

Shared Metrics That Guide Product Strategy and Execution

  • Define and operationalize product KPIs and OKRs that clearly measure adoption, engagement, retention, and long-term value, creating a shared language for success across leadership and teams.
  • Ensure teams are aligned on what success looks like, from product adoption and retention to customer lifetime value.
  • Translate product strategy into measurable outcomes that guide prioritization, execution, and iteration with greater speed and confidence.

Smarter, Lower-Risk Investment Decisions

  • Define clear success metrics for new product initiatives, MVPs, and experiments.
  • Implement early performance tracking to support faster, objective iterate, scale, or stop decisions.
  • Help the organization invest confidently in product initiatives that improve outcomes for pets, pet parents, and the overall product ecosystem.

Customer Insights as a Competitive Advantage

  • Own standardized qualitative and quantitative customer research to understand adoption drivers, retention behavior, and lifetime value.
  • Surface insights that shape product strategy, go-to-market decisions, and expansion opportunities into new petcare markets.
  • Ensure the voice of pet parents, and the needs of their pets, are embedded in product decisions.

A Test-and-Learn Operating Model

  • Operationalize product experimentation through A/B testing, controlled pilots, and rapid feedback loops.
  • Build repeatable analytics processes that enable continuous learning and product optimization.
  • Elevate experimentation into a core operating capability in product workflows, rather than an occasional activity.

Readiness for AI, ML, and Personalization

  • Partner with technical teams to ensure data models, instrumentation, and measurement frameworks support AI-powered features and personalization.
  • Define how success is measured for intelligent and ML-driven experiences.
  • Help lay the groundwork for responsible, explainable, and impactful AI in petcare.

Product Intelligence as a Strategic Asset

  • Establish governance and reusable product measurement frameworks that compound in value over time and support consistent decision-making across the product lifecycle.
  • Help shape the vision for insight-driven and intelligence-based data products.
  • Unlock new value while maintaining trust, transparency, and ethical data use.

Key Partnerships

In addition to the above, you’ll work closely with our Engineering/AI team, collaborating on:

  • Product instrumentation strategy and event taxonomy
  • Data modeling and experimentation frameworks
  • Feature-level analytics and ML-driven and personalized experiences
  • Measurement of AI initiatives and their real-world impact

What We’re Looking For:

Experience & Leadership

  • 15+ years of experience in data analytics, insights, data science, or product analytics, including senior leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building and scaling analytics or insights functions in product-led or high-growth organizations.
  • Track record of shaping executive strategy and decision-making through data and insights.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and developing analytics talent, building high-performance teams from the ground up.

Analytical & Strategic Depth

  • Strong expertise in product analytics, experimentation, customer insights, and KPI design.
  • Comfortable blending qualitative research with quantitative analysis to tell clear, compelling stories.
  • Ability to balance rigor with pragmatism in a fast-moving environment.

Technical Fluency

  • Deep familiarity with modern analytics stacks, data modeling concepts, and experimentation platforms.
  • Experience partnering closely with data engineering and AI/ML teams (you know what “good” looks like, even if you’re not coding daily).
  • Exposure to AI-enabled products, personalization, or ML-driven decisioning is a strong plus.
