Purpose:

  • To monitor and control the Supplier Development and Integration department at Brakes India
  • To develop competent and reliable supplier base which will provide the required parts, products, materials and services required for manufacturing meeting the set quality, cost and delivery objectives.


Roles & Responsibilities:

Functional

  • Monitors and controls the Supplier Development and Integration department at Brakes India
  • Oversees procurement of all imported direct and indirect materials for all sites of Brakes India
  • Formulates and sets objectives for the department in line with medium term objectives and annual business plan and monitors the same
  • Coordinates with other divisions/function of Brakes India for smooth flow of material
  • Reviews capacity creation plan for various commodities with the product and commodity groups and recommends actions to be taken
  • Conducts Purchase Supply Management review with management, marketing and manufacturing units to appraise commodity price movements and reviewing cost reduction plan progress.
  • Reviews sourcing progress for New Product with commodity/product groups and lays down corrective actions.
  • Reviews Supplier Kanban development with manufacturing Unit and product and commodity groups to monitor the progress as per plan.
  • Reviews Supplier consolidation/Deletion plan with groups and monitors progress as per plan
  • Reviews import inventory plan and recommends actions for maintaining desired targets.
  • Conduct Supplier/Senior management review ,identify improvement actions and monitor progress.
  • Reviews logistics performance with the team against set objectives with respect to lead time and associated costs
  • Motivates and encourages employees to participate in resource conservation, QHSE management system, 5 S, Quality circles/ Suggestion/Kaizen, TPM, lean manufacturing and six sigma

Budgeting

  • Plans and prepares the annual departmental revenue, manpower and capital budget by accounting for Manpower and Material for meeting department goals and objectives. Seeks inputs from management for achievement (refinement)
  • Cost management
  • Controls cost through effective utilization of resources and institutionalizing operational efficiency (process improvement) in the department
  • Reviews metal cost prices and take actions to ensure that the budget is not exceeded
  • Management Reporting
  • Prepares department MIS every month for review and action by management
  • Establishes relevant reporting mechanisms to ensure requisite data is well captured, collated and analyzed for making necessary decisions – department and management

People Responsibilities

  • Plans for manpower for current/future needs for the department
  • Recruits and supports HR in acquiring right talent for the department
  • Drives performance management process of the department by setting and communicating objectives, align, measure and assess performance and potential and provide developmental feedback.
  • Coaches and develops team members to elevate performance (department/ individual) and professional development (training, certification etc.)

Organizational Interventions

  • Actively leads/participates in organizational interventions (need based)


Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Engineering


Experience:

  • 20 years of experience in Supply Chain Management in Auto industry out of which 5 years in Purchasing
