Head of Technical Design

Role Overview 

As Head of Technical Design , you will define and lead the technical and BIM vision for the business. This senior role combines hands-on delivery, team leadership, BIM innovation, and strategic business planning. You will manage a team of technical CAD designers and BIM specialists, oversee project execution, ensure compliance and quality, and play a pivotal role in business development. 

You’ll report directly to the CEO and contribute to LXA’s growth through leadership, operational excellence, and client engagement. 

Key Responsibilities 

Technical Leadership 

• Define, implement, and uphold technical and BIM standards, processes, and best practices. 
• Lead technical project delivery from inception to completion. 
• Mentor and manage the technical team, ensuring training, development, and quality output. 
• Oversee QA/QC processes and approve technical documentation. 
• Technical ability to be able to inspect, design and understand building details, including on-site experience 
• Oversee production of interiors drawings: plans, RCPs, elevations, joinery, details, schedules 

BIM Strategy & Execution 

• Own the development, implementation, and maintenance of BIM protocols. 
• Lead BIM execution on all projects, ensuring models meet regulatory and client standards. 
• Manage clash detection, software tools, hardware procurement, and BIM coordination. 
• Stay ahead of emerging technologies and integrate innovative solutions. 

Project & Financial Management 

• Lead fee proposals and technical pitch reviews, ensuring accurate resourcing and deliverables. 
• Track project profitability, forecast fees, and manage invoicing. 
• Ensure contractual compliance and initiate additional fee requests where appropriate. 
• Maintain project status updates, financial progress, and profitability via our management software. 

Team Leadership 

• Oversee technical team recruitment, appraisals, training plans, and resource management. 
• Foster a positive, high-performance culture and ensure team buy-in to business goals. 

Client Engagement & Business Development 

• Serve as the technical and BIM liaison to clients, translating complex concepts clearly. 
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure seamless communication throughout projects. 
• Contribute to business growth by generating new projects annually and securing repeat business. 
• Represent LXA at industry events and support marketing and promotional efforts. 

Internal Improvement & Innovation 

• Champion the continuous improvement of LXA’s technical and BIM services. 
• Provide feedback on tools, processes, and systems to the wider leadership team. 
• Drive internal initiatives, contribute content to social media, and act as a visible technical leader within and beyond the company. 

What We’re Looking For 

• Degree in Architecture or Interior Design 
• Experience delivering projects in the UAE/GCC (authority submissions a strong advantage) 
• Senior-level experience in technical delivery within interior design, architecture, or construction. 
• Deep understanding of Revit. 
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience across technical teams. 
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage budgets, forecasts, and profitability. 
• Exceptional communication skills and confidence in client-facing scenarios. 
• Proficiency in project/resource management tools.
