The Head of Operations & Maintenance will lead and manage the entire manufacturing operations of a seamless pipe plant, specifically focusing on extrusion press, pilger mills, and draw bench lines. This role is responsible for ensuring plant efficiency, equipment reliability, production quality, and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high safety and environmental standards.

Job Description
The Head of Operations & Maintenance (O&M. will be responsible for the end-to-end management of manufacturing operations and equipment maintenance in a Seamless Pipe Plant. This role focuses on high-precision equipment such as extrusion presses, pilger mills, and draw bench lines, ensuring maximum uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge in seamless pipe production and a proven track record of leading cross-functional teams in a high-output industrial environment.
Principal Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership:Define operational and maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals.Lead and oversee all plant operations including extrusion, pilgering, cold drawing, and ancillary departments.Drive continuous improvement initiatives in production, maintenance, and asset management. Production & Process Management:To review daily productions reports and provide feedback to unit head.To identify resources for enhancing plant capacity utilization.To implement innovative practices in manufacturing and expansion activities. Ensure optimal and uninterrupted production of seamless pipes as per quality standards and customer requirements.Monitor KPIs such as production output, yield, machine uptime, and cost per ton. Maintenance & Reliability Engineering:Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs for critical assets (e.g., hydraulic presses, pilger mills, draw benches..Develop equipment reliability strategies including spare parts planning, root cause failure analysis (RCFA., and condition monitoring.Ensure minimal unplanned downtimes and extend equipment life through asset management best practices. Team Management & Development:Lead, train, and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and operators.Conduct periodic performance reviews and identify skill gaps and training needs.Promote a culture of ownership, accountability, and teamwork. Quality & Compliance:Enforce strict compliance with quality management systems and metallurgical standards for seamless pipes.Drive root cause investigations and CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Actions. for quality or safety incidents. Budgeting & Cost Control:Prepare and manage annual operational and maintenance budgets.Monitor expenses related to consumables, utilities, manpower, and equipment repair.Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on safety or quality. Cross-Functional Coordination:Work closely with production planning, quality assurance, engineering, supply chain, and senior management.Act as the key decision-maker for operations-related challenges and projects. Safety: Ensure Safe Working Condition, Safe work practices and Safety culture. Initiate the action to prevent occurrence of nonconformity relating to safety, Comply EMS, OHSAS and statutory requirements.
