Head Start Coach & Mentor

Organization: Northwestern Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC)
Location: Archbold, Ohio
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, August through May (34 hours per week)
Pay Rate: $24.03 per hour
Classification: Part-Year, Non-Union

Join NOCAC’s Head Start program — where education, compassion, and community come together! We’re looking for an energetic and dedicated Head Start Coach & Mentor who’s excited to guide early childhood educators and make a lasting impact in Northwest Ohio.

This is your opportunity to use your expertise in early childhood education, coaching, and child development to build strong classrooms, confident teachers, and brighter futures for young learners.

What You’ll Do

As our Head Start Coach & Mentor, you’ll:

  • Provide one-on-one Practice-Based Coaching to teachers and home visitors.
  • Conduct CLASS observations and help educators set meaningful professional goals.
  • Train new staff and model effective classroom practices using Creative Curriculum and Conscious Discipline.
  • Support lesson planning, classroom quality, and child outcome data tracking.
  • Collaborate with mental health, disabilities, and family services teams to ensure holistic child development.
  • Lead workshops, coordinate educational events, and inspire staff through coaching and encouragement.
  • Step in to substitute or assist in classrooms when needed — because you’re part of the team!

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with 2+ years of early childhood classroom experience.
  • CLASS Reliable (or able to obtain within 90 days).
  • Experience with ChildPlus, Teaching Strategies GOLD, or similar systems preferred.
  • Background in adult learning or teacher coaching a plus.
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply!

Other Requirements:

  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and insurable under NOCAC policy.
  • Must pass all pre-employment screenings (background, drug/alcohol, physical).
  • Comfortable using technology and online reporting tools.
