Head Start/Pre-k Lead Teacher

Job description:

Qualifications:

• BS degree in ECE or a related field required. If other than ECE will need TCC as well
• Experience in working with pre-school age children, including those with special needs.
• Experienced driver with valid license who has access to a vehicle that can be used on the job.
• Knowledgeable of resources within the community.
• Aware of the cultural and linguistic diversity of the children and families in the community.
• Must secure an acceptable criminal records check.
• Knowledgeable of basic computer skills and predominant software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, Internet).

Job Duties Include (but not limited to):

• Provide a safe, nurturing, stimulating and secure learning environment
• Prepare lesson plans based on data collected during observations
• Monitor and record progress of children
• Maintain all required documentation
• Hold parent/teacher conferences and conduct student home visits
• Work to provide early establishment of a trusting and productive partnership with their students’ families to promote the advancement of those children and families
• Meet all guidelines and policies of the classroom
• Work to insure that all aspects of the program meet or exceed Head Start Performance Standards and other requirements as set forth in the funding agency regulations
• Work to insure that all aspects of the program meet or exceed all requirements set forth by the governing agency
• Follow all guidelines set forth in the Ninth District Opportunity’s Personnel Policies, Procedures Manual, and Operations Plan
• Attend training sessions as required by the agency
