Job Summary
The Head Tennis Professional is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the club’s tennis programming, leading the development and promotion of engaging, high-quality tennis activities for members of all ages and skill levels. In this role, you will organize and conduct tennis clinics, private lessons, and events that foster participation and create a vibrant tennis community. Additionally, you will drive membership growth by promoting tennis memberships and serving as the club's tennis ambassador, enhancing the club’s overall value.
Day-to-Day
- Provide personalized assistance to members with their tennis needs, while ensuring adherence to all tennis sports policies and procedures.
- Conduct orientation sessions for new members, introducing them to the tennis facilities and available programs.
- Demonstrate professionalism when interacting with members and guests, accommodating changes and addressing last-minute requests with efficiency and a positive attitude.
- Conduct private and group tennis lessons, including skill-building drills, to enhance player development and enjoyment.
- Develop and promote a variety of tennis clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors to encourage participation and skill development across all age groups.
- Organize, manage, and promote leagues, round robins, drop-in sessions, ladders, tournaments, and other relevant events to foster community engagement and competitive play.
- Ensure courts are maintained to a high standard and that the facility provides a safe and welcoming environment for all users.
- Optimize the use of the club's tennis facilities to attract new members and retain existing ones, contributing to overall member satisfaction and reducing attrition.
- Complete daily assignments in designated areas to uphold club standards and maintain clean and organized workspaces, arranging furniture and equipment, and ensuring the facility is free of trash and debris.
- Collaborate effectively as a team member by maintaining awareness of the environment and supporting team members.
- Assist the Racquet Sports Director in all aspects of business operations to ensure smooth functioning.
Prepare the annual budget as directed, ensuring compliance with established standards and policies.
About You
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience playing, instructing, or coaching tennis at a competitive or professional level, preferably in a club or sports facility setting.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience conducting group tennis clinics, private lessons, or instructional programs for players of varying skill levels, including juniors and adults.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience organizing and running social events for members.
- A recognized certification from a reputable tennis organization (e.g., USPTA or PTR) is required.
Preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field.
- Excellent experience with ROGY programs.
- Excellent experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a sports or recreation environment, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional member/guest service.
- Excellent experience in promoting tennis programs, lessons, and memberships to help drive engagement and participation.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people of all ages and abilities, demonstrating strong communication and relationship-building skills
