Location- Client homes across Kochi, Kerala, and surrounding areas.
Job Summary
The Healthcare Assistant (HCA) is a vital member of the Good Care People care team, responsible for providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to clients in their homes. This role ensures the comfort, dignity, safety, and well-being of the clients, assisting them with daily living activities, personal care, and maintaining a clean, supportive environment, all under the direct or indirect supervision of a qualified professional.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
A. Personal Care and Hygiene
- Assist clients with all aspects of personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, oral care, grooming, and dressing/undressing, while respecting their dignity and privacy.
- Support clients with mobility, repositioning in bed, and transferring (e.g., in/out of bed, chair, or wheelchair) using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment.
- Assist with toileting, continence management, and changing of continence aids.
B. Health Monitoring and Support
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs (e.g., temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration rate) and report any significant changes to the supervising nurse or management immediately.
- Assist with the timely and correct administration of oral medication under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and according to the prescribed care plan and company policy.
- Assist clients with prescribed light exercises and rehabilitation activities as directed by a Physiotherapist or other qualified professional.
- Support with the collection of samples (e.g., urine, stool) for testing as required.
C. Nutritional Support
- Prepare and serve healthy meals and snacks according to the client’s dietary requirements, preferences, and care plan.
- Assist clients with feeding and drinking as necessary, monitoring fluid and nutritional intake.
D. Domestic and Environmental Support
- Perform light housekeeping duties in the client’s immediate living area, such as dusting, tidying, and making beds.
- Ensure the client's environment is clean, safe, and comfortable.
- Assist with laundry and ensuring clean linens and clothing are available.
- Run essential errands, such as grocery shopping or picking up prescriptions.
E. Emotional and Social Support
- Provide companionship, engage in meaningful conversation, and offer emotional support to promote the client’s mental and social well-being.
- Encourage client independence and participation in social and recreational activities within their capabilities.
- Accompany clients to appointments (e.g., doctor visits, therapy sessions) or outings.
F. Communication and Documentation
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date, and confidential records of care provided, observations, and any changes in the client's condition in the designated logbook or digital system.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with the client, their family members, the supervising nurse, and the office team.
- Report any accidents, incidents, concerns, or changes in the client’s physical, mental, or emotional health promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Qualifications and Skills
Required
- Minimum educational qualification: High School Certificate (10th/12th pass) or equivalent.
- Certification or formal training in Healthcare Assistant, Patient Care, or Home Health Aide is highly desirable.
- A genuine interest in caring for the elderly or individuals with disabilities/chronic illness.
- Excellent communication (Malayalam and English proficiency is beneficial for client interaction in Kochi) and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated traits of compassion, patience, trustworthiness, and integrity.
- Physical fitness and ability to handle the demands of the role, including moving and positioning clients.
Preferred
- Previous experience (6 months to 1 year) in a home care, hospital, or nursing home setting.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and infection control procedures.
- Ability to adapt to different home environments and client needs.
Working Conditions
- This role involves working in private residential settings.
- Work schedules may include shifts (day/night), weekends, and public holidays, as client care is a 24/7 requirement.
- The role can be physically and emotionally demanding.
- Compliance with all company policies, care standards, and ethical guidelines is mandatory.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹23,000.00 per month
