Health Care Officer

A Health Care Officer (HCO) is a mid-level health provider in India, typically a nurse (B.Sc./Post Basic B.Sc./GNM) or an AYUSH practitioner, serving at Health and Wellness Centres to strengthen primary healthcare. HCOs are responsible for managing preventive, promotive, and curative services in areas, acting as key personnel in reducing the burden on higher-level facilities. Key Aspects of a Medical Health Officer (MHO):

  • Role & Responsibilities: HCOs manage health centers, implement national health programs, conduct community health assessments, provide primary care, and manage non-communicable diseases.
  • Eligibility: B.Sc.nurses /Post Basic B.Sc.nurses OR AYUSH practitioners (BAMS/BHMS-nurses ) OR GNM holders nurses also accept .
  • Employment Type: Permanent based positions.
  • Salary & Benefits: Monthly remuneration generally ranges from ₹10,000 to ₹50,000, which includes performance-based incentives.
