Health Center Office Coordinator & Medical Assistant

Lake Forest Academy seeks a full-time Office Coordinator / Medical Assistant to support the daily operations of its on-campus Health Center. Candidates must be available to work in the office Monday through Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm while school is in session between the months of August through May; this is not a remote or hybrid position.

The Health Center provides comprehensive healthcare services to boarding and day students ages 13–19, supporting both routine and acute care needs in a confidential, student-centered environment. This role serves as the first point of contact for students seeking care and plays a key role in creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive healthcare experience. The ideal candidate is professional, organized, and compassionate, with strong communication skills. A Certified Medical Assistant is strongly preferred.


General overview of responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary front desk and reception support for the Health Center, greeting students, faculty, staff, and families in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Manage student check-in and check-out processes, and the daily clinic flow, to ensure efficient operations.
  • Provide information about Health Center services while maintaining strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA, FERPA, and school policies.
  • Support clinical operations by assisting healthcare providers with basic clinical tasks within the scope of training, including, but not limited to, preparing exam rooms, supporting health screenings, and assisting with documentation in the electronic health record system.
  • Maintain accurate student health records, scan and organize medical documentation, and support compliance tracking, including immunizations and required health forms.
  • Coordinate communication with students, families, providers, and internal school departments to support continuity of care.
  • Assist with inventory management, supply ordering, and general administrative and operational support.
  • Contribute to a calm, supportive, and student-centered environment where adolescents feel comfortable seeking care.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and ongoing Health Center improvement efforts.

Required experience and/or education:

  • 1–3 years of experience in a medical office, school health center, or patient-facing healthcare role preferred
  • Certified Medical Assistant strongly preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems preferred
  • Experience working with adolescents strongly preferred

Compensation/Benefits:
This is a full-time position and eligible for full benefits, with a pay range between $22-$28 per hour, or $35,000-$50,000 per year for working around 40 weeks annually. While school is in session, the individual is eligible for 10 days of personal time off (PTO) per school year, in addition to school breaks when students are not on campus.
