Health Information - Clerk (FT Days)

Join our Health Information Management team at NARMC and play a key role in maintaining accurate, organized, and secure patient records. Job Summary
The HIM Technician is responsible for scanning, assembling, and maintaining patients’ health information in medical records. This role ensures all medical documents are complete, accurate, and properly filed while complying with HIPAA regulations. The technician serves as a vital link between the Health Information Management department, clinical staff, and physicians.
Key Responsibilities
  • Scan, assemble, and maintain patient health records accurately and efficiently.
  • Review medical records for completeness, organize, and file documents in designated systems.
  • Assign deficiencies for dictation and follow up with physicians or other staff to clarify information.
  • Respond to information requests from hospital departments and the public following established procedures.
  • Operate computers to retrieve, file, and update patient records.
  • Combine duplicate patient records and maintain the alphabetic filing system.
  • Handle release of information requests after proper authorization.
  • Complete, mail, fax, and file physician transcription documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and hospital policies for patient privacy and information security.
  • Assist in daily operations and special projects of the Medical Records department as needed.

Job Qualifications
Required:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Computer experience.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Preferred:
  • Experience in a healthcare or medical records environment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
Compensation & Schedule
  • Hourly wage based on experience.
  • Full-time schedule with standard business hours; may include occasional early mornings or late afternoons as needed.
