Health Information Systems Support Specialist II

For almost 30 years, Signal has been managing and expanding behavioral health services in Colorado. Signal is a Behavioral Health Administrative Services Organization (BHASO) which helps ensure access to behavioral healthcare for uninsured, under-insured, and high-risk individuals by coordinating funding, supporting a provider network, and facilitating crisis response systems.

Signal's mission is to transform lives and communities by delivering high-quality and innovative professional services to behavioral health providers.

We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing behavioral health services for youth, adults and families across Colorado. We manage mental health and substance use prevention, treatment and recovery services that are accessible, affordable, and efficacious for consumers of these services. Through effective management and coordination of services, Signal aims to increase efficiencies across behavioral health service systems, to strengthen linkages between human services systems and providers, and to more closely tailor services to the needs and strengths of consumers.

We also support Coloradoans through crisis services and crisis adjacent services for youth and families. Our youth and family service team helps to provide timely access to comprehensive clinical assessment and service linkage for youth with high acuity mental health needs.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Health Information Systems Support Specialist II is responsible for providing friendly and prompt information systems assistance to our employees and external partners. Additionally, the role will include Operational Assistance on various day-to-day tasks. This individual will provide support for Signal’s custom-developed applications and standard productivity tools in a hybrid-work setting. The ideal person for this role is someone who not only has a passion for working with IT hardware and software but finds joy in helping and teaching others how to use technology more effectively.

The Health Information Systems Support Specialist II is expected to handle more detailed technical issues, mentor junior staff, and take a proactive role in process improvement.

This person must be a dedicated, resourceful, and empathetic listener. They should strive for excellence, humility, and a positive attitude.

A day-in-the life as our Health Information Systems Support Specialist II may include:

  • Technical Support: Provide support to behavioral health reporting system users via phone, email or Microsoft Teams session, troubleshoot issues and resolve help desk tickets.
  • Support troubleshooting routine and escalated information system issues and process change requests for Signal employees and external partners.
  • System Requirements & Documentation: Assist with maintaining and updating system requirements and provider documentation for data systems.
  • Documentation & Training: Maintain system documentation and support user training on data systems for internal and external partners
  • Operations Support (Backup): Assist with operational tasks such as updating provider license information, notifying providers of upcoming expirations, adding new locations/licenses to health data system, and handling additional requests as needed.
  • Other support as requested

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Excellent communication skills, especially when working with non-technical users
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Good judgment, tact, initiative, and diplomacy to make effective independent decisions.
  • Experience with Jira or similar workflow/project management platform
  • Demonstrate ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Organized, attention to details, and ability to manage a variety of tasks at the same time.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ticketing systems; willingness to learn new applications
  • 2+ years prior experience in IT support or administrative/clerical roles preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Health Information Systems, Health Information Technology or related field or commensurate education and experience.

Pay: $57,000.00 - $62,000.00 per year
