Key Responsibilities:
Herd Health Management
- Develop and implement comprehensive herd health programs
- Monitor daily animal health, behavior, and productivity indicators
- Diagnose diseases and implement effective treatment plans
- Ensure timely vaccination, deworming, and preventive healthcare schedules
Clinical & Surgical Duties
- Perform routine and emergency medical treatments
- Conduct minor and major surgical procedures when required
- Handle reproductive health issues in coordination with breeding teams
- Manage post-treatment care and recovery monitoring
Dairy Health Operations
- Maintain strict biosecurity protocols to prevent disease outbreaks
- Monitor mastitis control programs and milk hygiene standards
- Ensure compliance with veterinary and livestock regulations
- Conduct regular health audits and inspections of farm units
Team Management
- Supervise veterinary assistants and health workers
- Train staff on animal handling, treatment procedures, and hygiene practices
- Allocate duties and ensure efficient workflow within the health department
Data & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of treatments, vaccinations, and mortality rates
- Analyze health data to improve herd performance and reduce losses
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports for management
Coordination & Planning
- Work closely with farm management, nutritionists, and breeding teams
- Assist in planning herd expansion and health strategies
- Ensure availability of medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies
Qualifications & Experience:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) (Mandatory)
- M.Phil in Animal Surgery (Preferred)
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a corporate dairy farm or livestock setup
- Strong knowledge of herd health, dairy diseases, and farm management systems
