Duties

• Monitor and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and data security.
• Review medical coding practices, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems, to guarantee accurate billing and documentation.
• Conduct audits of clinical records and billing processes to identify potential compliance issues related to Medicare and FDA regulations.
• Develop, implement, and update compliance policies aligned with JCAHO standards and other industry best practices.
• Provide training sessions for staff on healthcare regulations, coding updates, and compliance procedures.
• Investigate compliance breaches or discrepancies, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain adherence to regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance management.

Skills

• Strong knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and data security protocols.
• Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding standards.
• Familiarity with Medicare policies, FDA regulations, and JCAHO accreditation requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills for conducting audits and identifying compliance risks.
• Effective communication skills for training staff and preparing detailed reports.
• Ability to stay current with evolving healthcare laws and industry standards.
