Duties
- Monitor and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy and data security.
- Review medical coding practices, including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems, to guarantee accurate billing and documentation.
- Conduct audits of clinical records and billing processes to identify potential compliance issues related to Medicare and FDA regulations.
- Develop, implement, and update compliance policies aligned with JCAHO standards and other industry best practices.
- Provide training sessions for staff on healthcare regulations, coding updates, and compliance procedures.
- Investigate compliance breaches or discrepancies, prepare detailed reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain adherence to regulatory changes and ensure ongoing compliance management.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA privacy rules and data security protocols.
- Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and ICD coding standards.
- Familiarity with Medicare policies, FDA regulations, and JCAHO accreditation requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills for conducting audits and identifying compliance risks.
- Effective communication skills for training staff and preparing detailed reports.
- Ability to stay current with evolving healthcare laws and industry standards.
