<Job Summary>
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Healthcare Compliance Specialist to oversee and ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of healthcare compliance frameworks, support clinical quality, documentation accuracy, and regulatory compliance within an outpatient physical therapy and orthopedic healthcare setting. This role focuses on monitoring patient engagement, auditing clinical documentation, and ensuring adherence to payer, clinical, and internal quality standards across our organization.
<Responsibilities>
Clinical Quality & Documentation Oversight
- Conduct routine audits of physical therapy documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and medical necessity
- Review evaluations, progress notes, treatment interventions, and discharge summaries for compliance with payer and organizational standards
- Identify documentation trends and collaborate with leadership to implement corrective action plans
- Provide education and guidance to clinicians on best practices in documentation and coding compliance
Patient Engagement & Quality Monitoring
- Track patient engagement metrics such as attendance, adherence to plan of care, and functional outcome measures
- Support initiatives aimed at improving patient retention, access to care, and clinical outcomes
- Analyze quality indicators and provide recommendations for performance improvement
Site Visits & Operational Compliance Oversight
- Conduct regular on-site visits to clinic locations to evaluate compliance with documentation, clinical workflows, and operational standards
- Observe clinical operations to ensure adherence to organizational policies, quality expectations, and patient care protocols
- Provide real-time coaching and education to clinical and administrative staff during site visits
- Identify compliance risks, workflow inefficiencies, or training needs and report findings to leadership
- Support implementation of corrective action plans and monitor follow-through after site visits
- Assist with onboarding and compliance orientation for new clinic locations or newly hired clinical staff
Education & Process Improvement
- Provide compliance and documentation training to physical therapists, physical therapist assistants, and support staff
- Assist in development and implementation of clinical workflows, policies, and procedures
- Participate in internal quality improvement initiatives and performance monitoring programs
<Education and Experience>
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Healthcare Administration, Health Sciences, Physical Therapy, Exercise Science, or related field required
- 2–4 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy, orthopedic care, rehabilitation compliance, or clinical quality preferred
- Experience working in a multisite outpatient therapy environment strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of physical therapy documentation standards, functional outcome measures, and medical necessity requirements
- Familiarity with therapy billing concepts including timed codes, plan of care requirements, progress reporting, and utilization tracking
- Knowledge of orthopedic rehabilitation workflows, treatment progression, and care coordination processes
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems used in rehabilitation settings (e.g., WebPT, Raintree, Net Health)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians, regional leadership, and administrative teams
<Benefits and Schedule>
- Annual Salary$65,000 - $70,000 - Depending on experience
