Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine health status and needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans incorporating evidence-based practices and current clinical guidelines.
  • Administer medications and injections, including IV infusions and botulinum toxin treatments, ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization, spinal taps, dermal fillers, and sterile processing techniques.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks for accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical records.
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals for diagnostic evaluations including laboratory tests, sonography, medical imaging, and specimen collection/processing.
  • Manage acute pain cases, triage patients effectively in urgent care or emergency room settings, and provide telehealth consultations when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information and maintaining high standards of infection control.
  • Participate in case management activities such as discharge planning, utilization review, and post-acute care coordination.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development through clinical research participation and staying current with ICD-10/ICD-9 coding updates.

Experience

  • Proven experience working in diverse clinical environments including hospital medicine, emergency medicine, ICU/Level I & II trauma centers, or outpatient clinics.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for efficient documentation and patient management.
  • Strong background in specialized areas such as gastroenterology, geriatrics, behavioral health, hospice & palliative medicine, or occupational health is highly desirable.
  • Critical care experience including ventilator management, ICU procedures like arterial line placement or spinal taps preferred.
  • Skilled in performing invasive procedures such as suturing, phlebotomy, venipuncture, catheter care/catheterization procedures.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations including pediatric (pediatrics/toddler care), neonatal ventilator management or neonatal intensive care units (NICU).
  • Knowledge of CPT coding for billing purposes and familiarity with Workers' Compensation law enhances clinical efficiency.
  • Prior involvement in clinical research projects or teaching hospital environments is advantageous.
  • Ability to manage complex cases involving infectious diseases care or acute pain management while adhering to NCQA standards for quality care delivery.
